Derrick Lee Brewer, 14, of Carlotta Street, Grove City admitted to two delinquency counts of discharging a firearm into a home, one delinquency count of killing and injuring an animal in Grove City and one count of cruelty to animals in Hilliard.

Brewer who killed two dogs while shooting up a Grove City neighborhood and killed a cat in Hilliard was placed in the custody of Franklin County Children Services to be treated for mental illness and taught to manage his anger.

Juvenile Court Magistrate Sally Boy placed Brewer on one year of probation. He is to be sent to the Ohio Center for Youth near Ironton.

Grove City police said Derrick Brewer fired a .22-caliber rifle that struck five houses and killed two dogs in the backyard of a home in December. Less than a week earlier, he shot a cat in Hilliard with a .22-caliber rifle, Hilliard police said.
