A 6-year-old white and silver tabby cat is recovering at its owners home after being shot in the shoulder with an arrow last week, the owner said.

The cat, Murray, had been let outside Stephanie Retkofskys Bunker Hill apartment Nov. 10. The next morning, the neighbors found Murray sitting on the sidewalk with a 2-foot-long arrow through his shoulder.

Retkofsky said she took the 15-pound feline to the veterinarians office, where the arrow was removed. The veterinarian said the arrow didnt pierce anything vital, but he kept the cat in the veterinary hospital overnight.

The bill came to $245 to save Murray, who was adopted from the Animal Protective League a few years ago for Retkofskys 6-year-old son, Joseph.

Retkofsky called police after finding the cat injured. Police do not know who shot the arrow, reports show.

The vet told Retkofsky that, after looking at the way the arrow had entered the cats body, he was sure the shots were deliberate.

It looks like someone held him down and shot him through the fleshy parts of skin, she said. He was shot twice.
