When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Lawrence McIlveen, John Weddle and Ralph Wren have pleaded guilty to first-degree animal cruelty. The three men chained a stray dog to a picnic table and took turns beating it with a baseball bat.
Wren entered his plea and was sentence to five months in jail, he has previous felony convictions. Superior Court Judge Tari Eitzen converted one month of Wren's sentence to community service and gave the disabled Army veteran credit for two months he already spent in jail.
McIlveen was sentenced to three months because he has no previous felony convictions. He received credit for 60 days already served.
Weddle was given a three-month sentence, with 51 days' credit for time served.
