Alleged: Laurence Reid Hargrave

Laurence Reid Hargrave, 37, from Lorton, VA, accused of burning two "demon dogs" at a state park in Truth or Consequences will go to a mental health hospital before he faces trial.

Hargrave said he picked up two stray red heeler pups, they attacked him and he burned them.

He is charged with animal cruelty, aggravated assault and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana.

He was deemed unable to go to trial because of his mental condition. He will be sent to Las Vegas Medical Center for evaluation as soon as a bed at the state hospital is available. He will eventually return to court to face the charges. He remains in jail.
