Antonio Figueiroa, 26, arrested on charges of maliciously killing a dog which may provide links to a series of hangings of dogs in New Jersey and Massachusetts, according to the police.
Arrest was a culmination of a two-year search for the person who kidnapped large street dogs, beat them and hanged them up alive by chains and wires to die.
Detective Bernard Hughes of the Cumberland Police said officers were told to look for the suspect in New Jersey because he is a Jersey native, but Mr Hughes said he did not know the name of the suspect's hometown. References- The New York Times - Dec 7, 1986
