One of six teenagers accused of burning a captured skunk in West Haven in August was declared a fugitive after he failed to show up in court.

Tyshawan Boykin, 17, also had tested positive for drugs and tried to fake a urine test, court officials said. Superior Court Judge Jack L. Grogins revoked Boykin's eligibility to participate in the alternative incarceration program in lieu of jail and set a new bond at $1,000.

Late August, Boykin was arrested with five other suspects, including two juveniles, following investigation by police into the Aug 10 burning of a skunk caught inside a pest control trap.

Each teen charged with cruelty to animals and conspiracy to commit cruelty to animals. Adjacent to cage was a nearly empty can of charcoal lighter fluid, according to the police.

Arrest warrant affidavit names suspect Jason Mesaros, 19, and an unidentified juvenile as the persons who lit the match.
