Officers arrest the boys, ages 10 to 12, after a man reports the death of his cow. Three Seffner boys were arrested Wednesday and charged in the deaths of a cow and a cat and the shooting of several other animals with BB guns, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Don Turley, 76, of 8006 Alpine Ave., reported that his cows had been abused. One of the cows, which was pregnant, died when the children tried to jump on her and ride her, Turley reported. A pony and several other cows were hit with BBs, Turley reported. One cow had its eye shot out.

All cows and the pony were grazing in a pasture near the intersection of U.S. Highway 92 and Parsons Avenue.

Anthony Paul Kerestesy, 12; Shane Allen Pepperman, 10; and Clifford Workman, 11, were arrested Wednesday. When questioned, the boys admitted they shot Turley's animals, as well as a dog and a cat, deputies said.

Randy Boyett said his 11-month old dog, Brownie, was shot in the right side on Tuesday.

Bonnie Kerestesy said she bought her son a BB gun last weekend because she thought he was old enough to use it responsibly.

She said Anthony buried a cat that had been shot. The cat's owner had not been identified.

Anthony Kerestesy was charged with three counts of animal cruelty, which is a felony; Pepperman with one count; and Workman with four counts. The boys were taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
