Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!
Three Rockingham County men have been charged with beating a donkey that was part of a church Nativity scene. The men are accused with attacking Brighty the donkey in December while he was tethered at Broadway Presbyterian Church. Brighty's owner says his pet has been afraid of people and unwilling to socialize with other donkeys since the attack. State police said one of the suspects told police they beat the donkey because it seemed like "a cool thing to do."
Authorities think they used an automotive tool, such as a lug wrench or jack handle.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
