The carcasses of a calf and an opossum that had been bound with duct tape and beheaded were found in Supercans in a South Richmond alley.

The brains had been removed from the heads, which were found with the bodies, and the animals' mouths as well as their legs were tied with tape, city spokesman Brannon Atkinson said last night.

The remains were found shortly before 10:30 a.m. in two Supercans in an alley behind a residence in the 2300 block or Riverside Drive, Atkinson said.

He said the discovery is under invesigation by police as animal cruelty. "We have absolutely no leads," Atkinson said.
