A sick, abandoned puppy is recovering at the Central New York SPCA after losing its leg. Tynesha Gary says she found the animal on the street and brought it home for her son. Later, she noticed something was wrong with the animal's leg and decided to leave the puppy by the side of the road - but contends she did nothing wrong.

"I couldn't afford to take him all the out to the SPCA. I don't have a house phone here yet, so I couldn't call Dog Control or have anybody come pick him up. I took him over down at Liberty where l knew a lot of people were outside during the daytime, so somebody could see him and pick him up," said Tynesha Gary.

A sick, abandoned puppy is recovering at the Central New York SPCA after losing its leg.

Gary is charged with animal cruelty. The SPCA says dozens of people have called about adopting the Shepard mix.
