Janesville, WI (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Oct 3, 2004
County: Rock

Disposition: Alleged

Abuser names unreleased

A Janesville man is arrested for allegedly beating a cat into a coma. Police said the 36-year-old man was arrested Saturday at the Rock County Jail, where he was being held for unrelated probation violations.

Authorities were notified after a person brought the injured cat to a vet. Reports say the animal had broken ribs, a broken jaw, broken teeth and bruised internal organs. It was also comatose.

The person said they noticed about a week earlier that the cat seemed sick or injured and had stopped eating and making noises.

The cat was sent home and is believed to have a good chance of survival.
