Authorities are investigating possible cockfighting activities after discovering about a dozen roosters and some hens at a Yucaipa home, officials said.
San Bernardino County Animal Control, Yucaipa Code Enforcement and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Depart- ment discovered the birds after receiving complaints from neighbors about excessive noise, Sgt. Cliff Nash said.
Officials on Wednesday served a search warrant shortly before 10 a.m. at the home in the 12900 block of 6th Street, city code enforcement officials said.
City ordinances allow one crowing male fowl per acre. Authorities discovered about a dozen roosters on the property, which was slightly more than 1 acre. The animals appeared to be in good health, but paraphernalia used in cockfighting operations, such as steroids, were found. Three roosters were seized, officials said.
