Arlington, TX man who owns the Weatherford slaughterhouse where 93 animals were seized last week and three arrest warrants were issued.

The warrants accuse Khaled Mohammed Qaddura, 36, of cruelty to animals, a class A misdemeanor, according to a news release from Sgt. Chris Crawford, a police spokesman.

Qaddura told police that he would surrender Monday, but had not done so by 4 p.m., Crawford wrote.

If convicted, Qaddura could be sentenced to a year in jail and fined $4,000 on each charge.

Investigators with the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter removed 47 sheep, 42 goats and four head of cattle from the slaughterhouse on West First Street on Aug. 17, 2004.

Nine of the animals died despite veterinary care or had to be destroyed because of their condition, Crawford has said.

Investigators also found 12 animals inside the plant that appeared to have died from neglect.
