An estimated 250 dogs, cats, goats, birds, chickens and ducks were found living in the home of an elderly Troy, Alabama resident, Eva Edwards. The Troy Animal Control Department removed about 50 dogs Wednesday morning and reported that 19 dogs were left. Eva has been given two weeks to remove all but three of the remainig nineteen.

There have been reports of abuse and neglect, but Sam Green, the Troy Animal Control Officer, says he did not see any evidence of that, nor does he have an answer to residents complaints.

Neighbors allege that Edwards is an animal breeder. Edwards herself told a local news station, "Sold some to Troy Pets way back but I hadn't recently. So, I sold some. I have sold some right here in my yard, and I don't see where I have done anything wrong."

The Montgomery Humane Society, which responded to the scene on Tuesday, says its afraid that once the animals leave they will return or Edwards will go out and get more animals. However, Sam Green says he will keep a constant check the situation there. He says if the dogs and most of the other animals are not gone in two weeks he will go and remove them himself.
