more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Hoarding - 6 dogs, 22 cats, 21 birds Omaha, NE (US)Incident Date: Saturday, Jul 31, 2004 County: Douglas
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Convicted
Defendants/Suspects: » Ronald Hammond - Alleged » Beverly M. Hammond
Case Updates: 1 update(s) available
A 1-year-old girl and dozens of animals were removed from what authorities called filthy conditions at an Omaha house.
Ronald Hammond was arrested Friday on charges of child neglect, obstructing police and animal cruelty. His mother, Beverly Hammond, was arrested for animal cruelty. The Nebraska Humane Society impounded six dogs, 22 cats, and 21 birds, including two chickens and several pigeons. One cat was found dead. Ronald's daughter was found alone in an upstairs bedroom on a mattress and authorities report she is doing well in protective custody.
The dogs had been kept in the back yard, the cats and birds in the house, said Pam Wiese, a humane society spokeswoman.
She said the house had no working plumbing and had sewage in the basement. Officer Cathy Martinec, a spokeswoman for the Omaha Police Department, said conditions in the house were "unsuitable for the child or anyone."
Wiese says most of the animals will be saved. Wiese says one cat had a broken leg that had healed improperly, and one of the dogs had no hair on its back. She says the cats were in filthy cages and had no water. There was feces and decaying food on the floors of the home, and among other ailments, some animals were suffering from dehydration, parasites, skin problems, fleas and loss of muscle mass.
