A Cameron, W.Va., man has pleaded not guilty to charges of cruelty to animals that were filed against him for failing to care for horses on his family's Aleppo Township farm.
Robert R. Anderson, who had been found guilty of similar charges in May after six horses were found dead on the farm, was charged with additional counts after two more dead horses were discovered on the property.
A summary hearing has been scheduled by District Justice Lou Dayich of Waynesburg for 1:30 p.m. July 27, 2004.
Anderson, 74, faces three counts of cruelty to animals, summary offenses, for failing to provide veterinarian care to horses on his farm on Greene Valley Road.
Greene County Humane Society found one dead horse on the farm when it visited the property May 17 and another dead horse on the property June 22. Two additional horse observed at the farm also were in need of veterinary care, the humane society said.
Case Updates| A Marshall County man charged with animal cruelty appeared in court yesterday to hear the new charges being brought against him. Bob Anderson was originally charged with one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty and one felony count of brandishing a weapon. But Marshall County Prosecutor Jeff Cramer has decided to drop those charges in order to pursue other felony charges. The 76-year-old Anderson was originally arrested for threatening an officer with a knife when police came to investigate allegations that he had been breaking a horse by tethering its legs to two cars and driving them apart. Cramer told local media that he will not be seeking a plea agreement in this case. Authorities in Wetzel County are also investigating Anderson on similar charges. | Source: WOWKTV - Nov 8, 2005 Update posted on Nov 8, 2005 - 11:24AM |
