A southeast Houston man was charged with cruelty to animals after police arrested Jones, 21, on animal cruelty charges Saturday after Houston homicide investigators found seven malnourished pit bulls chained in his yard, some so weak they couldn't walk.
Homicide detectives found seven pit bulls in the overgrown back yard of Jones' home. Some tied with short chain links to a car, others chained to fences and poles. The dogs' ribs stuck out prominently.
At least six dogs that suffered "weeks of malnourishment" were seized in the back yard by officials with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Jones denied starving the dogs, however, saying they were afflicted with internal parasites. Case UpdatesMiguel Carlos Jones, 21, was in the Harris County Jail on $10,000 bond Sunday for the two animal cruelty cases filed against him. | Update posted on Jul 5, 2004 - 3:19AM |
