A man facing allegations that he killed his girlfriend's cats failed to appear at a preliminary hearing March 25. As a result, an arrest warrant has been issued for Todd Waldron of Olympia, Wash.

Waldron is accused of entering his girlfriend's apartment when she wasn't home and killing her cats, 5-year-old Tia and 4-year-old Yeta. According to a police report, a necropsy suggested that the cats might have been stomped to death.

After the local district attorney's office declined to bring felony charges against Waldron, citing a heavy caseload. City attorneys were willing to step in -- though they are only allowed to handle misdemeanor cases.
