Malnourished dog chained to tree

The dog's ribs stuck above his fur, mucus ran from his eyes and the only water nearby was filled with algae and he was chained to a tree in the front yard, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office reported.

Deputies called county animal control to take the dog to a veterinarian for treatment. The owner of the house was contacted and arrested on charges of cruelty to animals.

Beau Christopher Denney, 23, was booked into the County Jail, where he remains in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
