Poisonings have Sickened or Killed 27 Dogs
Jackson, WY (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Feb 29, 2004
County: Teton

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

The Jackson hiking and dog walking community has been on edge since March as a spate of poisonings has sickened or killed 27 dogs. Bait -- hot dogs or meats -- has been filled with Temik, an insecticide and scattered around. Three poisoned baits were found in the Town of Jackson last month. The poison is so lethal it can be harmful when absorbed through the skin. Those touching it generally wear thick protective gear.

A local Cache Creek dog walker sent an e-mail Tuesday to people in town warning of the suspicious activity and Tuesday night a group of deputies and volunteers combed the area looking for baits and found nothing.
