William Polidore of Tinton Falls pleaded guilty to animal cruelty in Municipal Court after investigators said he injured his wife's dog so badly it had to be euthanized. Leading the investigation was SPCA chief humane law enforcement officer, Stuart Goldman.

Polidore will pay a $2,000 fine, perofrm 120 hours of community service and undergo counseling. He was also given five years probation, during which time he cannot care for or have custody or control of an animal.

Polidore's wife repeatedly brought the 9 pound papillon to a veterinarian with injuries over a four-month period. Officer Goldman said the injuries included broken toes, broken ribs and ultimately a broken back, for which the dog had to be euthanized on March 27. An investigation revealed that Polidore injured the dog.
