Roger Bishop allegedly assaulted a 9-week-old kitten in front of a 2-year-old child, stated Animal Control Officer Gail Petras.

The owner of the cat reported the incident to police. During the animal control officers investigation, it was determined the kitten suffered head trauma from Bishop allegedly throwing it into the air, hitting the ceiling and wall, Petras said. Once the kitten landed, it went into convulsions. Bishop claimed it was accidental.

Bishop, 24, of 64 Stack St., was charged with cruelty to animals. He was released on a promise to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on Wednesday June 9, 2004
