A man who had worked for the Clayton County pound for 23 years was charged with animal cruelty after a visiting Humane Society official, following the sounds of howling, observed him hitting a pit bull in the head with a metal pole. The dog was bleeding from the head and snout after the incident. The accused was given a choice of being fired or resigning, and he chose to leave his post voluntarily.
