Police found two puppies covered in blood at a house they say was used for dog fighting. The puppies are now recovering at the Erie County SPCA.
Buffalo police were called to a home for a domestic dispute report, but instead ended up rescuing several dogs.
Officers spotted the first dog outside the home and could see it had been used for fighting.
A second dog was found inside the house in what police say was a "fighting room."
Police arrested five people who are now charged with cruelty to animals, and fighting the animals which is a felony charge.
Police also found crack cocaine as well. Investigators say it was a disturbing scene.
Officer John Kujawa said, "That was pretty bad to see. We seen a dog in the alley first, who was very cut up. Just looked like it was starving for some attention. We searched the whole house, there was no food in the house for the dogs, no water bowls, or anything for the dogs at all."
The dogs were taken to the SPCA. References« NY State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Erie County, NY
