Three teenagers are accused of putting a pet goose and a blind duck in a portable toilet and setting it on fire, killing the animals.

Authorities also have linked the three to eight other fires during the last two months in Fort Myers Shores, including one at a business that caused $200,000 in damage, according to the State Fire Marshals office.

Two 15-year-olds and one 13-year-old face charges of arson, cruelty to animals, grand theft and criminal mischief, the fire marshals office said. The Lee County Sheriffs Office could not confirm the arrest of the 13-year-old. These teens are not being names because of their ages.

The other blazes involved trash bins, portable toilets and mailboxes in the same area in Fort Myers Shores, said Lt. Tammy White of the fire marshals office. The joint fire marshal/sheriffs office investigation is ongoing.

Authorities believe this is the first time the three killed animals. The other fires linked to the teenagers include a March 15 blaze at Estate Treasures, 14561 Palm Beach Blvd., Suite 9. They also are connected to two car fires the next day on Upcohill Avenue.
