Pit bull neglect resulting in death

Defendant/Suspect: George Edward Bates

A male Pit Bull was found chained in a yard during a related investigation.  He was unable to get into his dog house.  Little food and no water.  Feces covered the ground.  The dog was seized and returned to the shelter.  Mr. Bates was charged with Cruelty and Neglect for the living conditions for his dog.  Approx. 1 week later the dog died.  A necropsy determined that the dog died from heartworm infestation and internal parasitism.
