Laliberty of 62 Strafford St., was charged with assaulting a police dog that tracked him down.

Police caught up with Laliberty after getting a call that a man was running down the middle of Union Avenue about 11:40pm, ramming his head into the ground and other objects.

Police dog named Yogi found Laliberty hiding behind a trash bin.  Laliberty lunged at the dog, wrapped his arms around its neck and picked it up off the ground.

Laliberty was restrained and treated for a dog bite and self inflicted head wounds at the Lakes Region General Hospital.

Laliberty was arrested and charged with willful interference with a police dog after he lunged at the dog's head, then fought with 7 police officers trying to subdue him.  He was taken to the Belknap County Jail.

Yogi suffered no serious injuries.

Laliberty was arraigned on 3/4 and held in lieu of $1000 cash bail.
