A 41-year-old West Palm Beach man has been arrested on a charge of animal cruelty after officials had to kill a Doberman pinscher dog they say the man allowed to suffer from an agonizing infection for months.

West Palm Beach police say an infection slowly ate away at the leg of Thomas Knupple's dog until no skin was left and the bone was visible.

Police found the dog at 825 Bradley St. after it reportedly cried through the night in pain this weekend, according to an arrest report.

Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control humanely euthanized the dog after determining it could not survive, the report stated. Knupple, who has been arrested 24 times in Florida, was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
