Multiple animal cruelty charges were filed against a Hamilton Township couple, Brain and Tena Kauffman by state dog enforcement officer Georgia Martin, according to the records of four Franklin County District Justices.
Charges ranging from animal abandonment to illegal transporting and trading of dogs to not having dogs licensed and vaccinated were have been filed with District Justices Kelly Rock, Gary Carter, David Hawbaker and Richard Alloway against Brian and Tena Kauffman.
Some of the charges were filed just against Brian Kauffman and some were filed against both of the Kauffmans.
One charge of animal abandonment of a Great Pyrenees dog was filed yesterday with Rock�s office. Charges of illegally selling and trading of dogs as well as illegal transportation of dogs was filed in Carter�s office.
The bulk of the charges were filed with Judge Hawbaker and Judge Alloway. A total of 11 different counts were filed against Brian Kauffman before Judge Hawbaker yesterday. Those include one count of not having a dog licensed, nine counts of not having dogs vaccinated and one count of making false statements to an enforcement officer.
