A Warren County man is being accused of shooting and beating a dog to death. Bennie Stone of Springboro reportedly shot a chow mix in the ear and beat it with a hammer until it died.

Police said Stone was mad at the dog after he bit his one and a half year old nephew in the face. The injuries to the child were minor.

Tracie Oshel, a Warren County Humane Officer said, "There's no excuse for taking a hammer and shooting a dog when there are humane societies and there are dog wardens who can come out... we can put it to sleep humanely."

Stone is being charged with animal cruelty and could spend up to three months in jail if found guilty.
