A Blount County man has been sentenced to 11 months in jail for killing a neighbor's dog.  Raul Aguilar will has already served 60 days, and the rest of his sentence has been suspended.  Aguilar admitted to luring the dog to him, beating it, and then shooting it.  He also admitted that the dog was not a threat to him.  The Blount County Humane Society calls this especially cruel and pushed for the maximum sentence.  The Society wants to make animal cruelty a felony in Tennessee.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
