A Spartanburg County man faces charges after he allegedly stabbed his puppy with a knife. Deputies were called to the home near Woodruff Friday morning on a report of a weapon at the scene. When they arrived, they found Christopher Anthony Loftis (shown, left), 22, holding a bleeding puppy. A relative said Loftis stabbed the puppy with a knife.

The deputies recovered a knife from Loftis' camper that had blood on it and Loftis was been charged with cruelty to animals and simple possession of marijuana.

The puppy, named Blackjack, was badly injured and had to be put to sleep a short time later.
