Dona Ana County Animal Control Investigating Officer, Ellie Choate, has worked in completing the task of taking possession of 56 dogs and 10 cats from two Chaparral, NM residences. All of the animals belonged to the same person. 45 of dogs found at one location were infected with mange and 41 of them were unsocialized Chow mix dogs.

The 11 dogs from the other location did not appear to be sick but were also unsocialized Chow mixed dogs. At both locations there was excessive amounts of accumulated feces. At the first site we found the remains of three dead dogs, two of which appeared to have been cannibalized. The other, too decomposed to identify except for its teeth which still clung to the chain link fencing which enclosed it and an outline of where it died. 119 Charges have been filed.
