The Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service is requesting that a felony first-degree animal cruelty charge be filed against the owner of a pit bull that was found in such bad condition that it was euthanized.
The 4-year-old brown and white dog was found in the 1800 block of West Boone Avenue on Feb. 1. The dog weighed 31 pounds, about half of what it should have, and was so weak it could not raise its head. The dog was taken to a veterinarian, who recommended that it be euthanized. The pit bull suffered from hypothermia and was starved, according to a SCRAPS news release.
The dog's owner and other witnesses were interviewed during the investigation into the dog's condition, but SCRAPS has not identified the owner.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
