Paolos Gelato, a locally owned shop located in Virginia Highlands, had their van stolen on Thursday, July 10 at 12:15pm from the Home Depot on Sidney Marcus. The van and its contents can be replaced but the familys best four-legged friend and store mascot, also in the van, cannot.
Gelato, the familys cat, was left in the running van while Elizabeth Hall ran into the home improvement store to get a few things needed back at the shop. Gelato, Tow for short, who regularly goes on errands with Hall, was left in the air-conditioned van. Tow always goes on errands. When she isnt sitting in the window at Paolos she enjoys going for rides in the van, said Hall. If she is abandoned in the vehicle Tow could die from heat exhaustion within a matter of minutes. Even with the windows open, a parked vehicle can instantly become a furnace. In ten minutes the temperature inside a car could reach 160.
Paolos owner, employees and regular patrons are asking the public for help in finding the van and hopefully their furry friend. The van is unmistakable with giant fruit and gelato on the roof of the automobile. If you spot the vehicle please call the police and then Elizabeth Hall immediately.
Tow is a two-year-old gray classic tabby with black stripes. She has a bend at the top of her tail (car door accident) and was wearing a black harness with a pink heart-shaped tag with her owners contact information.
Please contact Elizabeth Hall at 404-392-4953 if you have any information on the van and Gelato or if you need more information to assist in the search. If you have information on this case, please contact: Elizabeth Hall 404-392-4953
