Police officers are investigating an animal cruelty case where at least 16 dogs were found living in poor conditions in a Cambria County home.
Johnstown police said Wednesday morning officers were called to a home in the 100 block of Coal Street in the Old Conemaugh Borough section for an animal complaint.
Officers said when they made contact with a person inside the home, it was determined she was wanted on outstanding warrants. She was taken into custody and officers then conducted a sweep of the home, finding the dogs. Police said 14 of the dogs were found in cages in the home's basement. Two others were elsewhere in the house.
The animals were taken to the Cambria County Humane Society to be checked.
Police have not released the name of the woman taken into custody.
