County: Cook

Charges: Felony CTA
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Damien Wilkerson

Damien Wilkerson, 34, of the 700 block of North Pine Ave. remains in the Cook County Jail on Monday in lieu of $80,000 bond after Wilkerson allegedly admitted to killing a neighbor's pit bull on Saturday after the dog ripped his shirt.

Wilkerson faces charges of felony animal cruelty.

According to the CBS local.com, Wilkerson told authorities:

"The dog tore my shirt. This sh-t was $3.78. There were two dogs. One was a puppy who ran away, and the other dog, yeah, I killed him."

Witnesses state Wilkerson jumped over the fence after the dog ripped his shirt and began beating the dog with a milk crate, sticks, and rocks.

A report from the Chicago Tribune also states Wilkerson was holding a knife. After he killed the dog, Wilkerson threw the dog's body in the trash.

When police arrived Wilkerson fled, but came back several minutes later and told authorities about his ripped shirt. He also stated there were two dogs, but the puppy ran away. Wilkerson claimed the dogs went for his throat.
