Alleged: Carolyn Nichole Vaughn
Authorities in Seminole County have arrested a woman for animal abuse after finding between 20 and 30 dead horses at what she claimed was an animal rescue operation.
Sheriff's deputies who entered the property on Friday say they found another 64 horses suffering from malnutrition.
Authorities arrested Carolyn Vaughn for animal cruelty at the site at NS 366 Road. It was unclear Saturday whether she had an attorney.
Oklahoma City television station (http://is.gd/nBYJ4K) KOCO reports that court records show Vaughn faced animal cruelty charges in 2010.
The station reports deputies also found four goats, 28 dogs, a chinchilla, a lizard and a grey parrot on site.
Deputies say it will cost about $10,000 to treat the surviving animals. A Jones, Okla.-based group, Blaze's Tribute, is to care for the horses.
