A bull dog was shot twice but is expected to recover, and now Westfield Police are trying to figure out who the dog belongs to and who shot it.

Someone called Westfield Police on Jan. 30 to report a dog that appeared to be in poor health. Officers found the dog wrapped in a blanket, but it didn't have a collar or a microchip.

The dog, named Cupid, was taken to the Humane Society for Hamilton County before being taken to an animal hospital. The bullets were removed and the dog is expected to fully recover.

"He was very lucky nothing vital was hit. But based on how bad the infection was, he had been walking around for a few days with these bullet wounds," said Hamilton County Humane Society Executive Director Rebecca Stevens.

A foster family is taking care of Cupid while the animal recovers from the operation.

Anyone with information about the crime or the pet's possible owner is asked to call police at 317-804-3200.
