A dog burned with a caustic substance showed up at a restaurant 4km from the city of Mérida. The owners of the restaurant wanted to "get rid" of the dog since she would give a bad image to a wedding that was being celebrated there. The police officers from Guardia Civil rescued the dog and took her to ADANA, the local humane society, from where she was taken to the vet clinic. She is now at the intensive care unit being treated for malnutrition and burns from a caustic substance.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
