Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Paul Brabson

Stawplains man is in custody after being accused in a serious case of animal abuse.

The Sevier County Sheriff's Office says 58 year old Paul Brabson is charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty.

A complaint lead investigators to Brabson's home. A driver passing by the home saw that the Black Lab was tangled up in a chain. That driver then noticed the chain was embedded into the dog's neck.

The chain was surgically removed at the Sevier County Animal Clinic.

Investigators say Brabson admits the dog is his.

He was released on a two thousand dollar bond and is due in court on April 16th.

The dog is recovering at the county's Humane Society and is expected to make a full recovery.

Brabson did surrender the dog to the Sevier County Humane Society.

The dog, renamed Sunshine, should be up for adoption soon.

Anyone wishing to help in covering her medical costs can send donations to Sevier County Humane Society, PO Box 976, Pigeon Forge, TN, 37868.
