Suffolk County Police Seventh Precinct Officers were summoned to a residence in Mastic Beach on January 20 at approximately 11:30 a.m. by sheriff's deputies who were conducting an eviction at the residence. Officer Denise Fierro and other officers found a deceased canine in the front of the property, and two other emaciated dogs were discovered inside the house. After consultation with Seventh Precinct Crime Section and the Suffolk SPCA, Fierro arrested the dogs' owner, Stacey Earle, 39. She was charged with cruelty to animals in accordance with the Agriculture and Markets law.
According to Lieutenant Robert Brown of the Seventh Precinct Crime Section, the dogs were brought to the Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, where their conditions were not known at press time. If convicted, Earle could serve up to one year in jail, face a fine not to exceed $1,000, or any combination of both.
Earle has a court date appearance in First District Court in Central Islip on March 24 for arraignment. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
