more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Kitten kicked like football Chicago, IL (US)Incident Date: Monday, Jan 23, 2012 County: Cook
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Convicted Case Images: 1 files available
Defendant/Suspect: Percy Love
Case Updates: 1 update(s) available
A Southwest Side man has been charged with animal cruelty after kicking his kitten like a football, police said.
Officers saw Percy Love, 22, take a running start and kick his black kitten Monday afternoon, sending the kitten 15 to 18 feet into the air, according to a police report.
Love then placed both his arms up in the air as if to signal a "field goal," and began laughing, the report stated.
When the officers moved to arrest Love, he told them, "This is my cat, Nightmare. He is tough, we play like that all the time -- it's just a cat," the report said. The incident happened in the 6200 block of South Campbell Avenue.
The kitten was taken to the city's Animal Care and Control agency, the report said.
Love, of the 6500 block of South Maplewood Avenue, was charged with animal cruelty, police said.
Animal Care and Control spokeswoman Cherie Travis said the kitten, less than a year old, did not suffer life-threatening injuries but vets were taking x-rays today.
During a hearing Tuesday, the city agency was given ownership of the kitten, Travis said. "He's a very friendly cat," Travis said. "Hopefully he'll be up for adoption soon."
Love was ordered held on $50,000 bail.
Case UpdatesA South Side man has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for kicking his cat.
As WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports, some police officers said they saw Percy Love kick the small, black cat he had named Nightmare. The cat went flying 15 to 18 feet in the air, as Love raised his arms to signal a successful field goal.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. Jan. 23 in the 6200 block of South Campbell Avenue.
Police said Love rationalized kicking his cat by saying: "He is tough, we play like that all the time. It's just a cat."
Love has been in jail ever since. He had been held on $50,000 bond.
On Wednesday, Criminal Court Judge Tommy Brewer sentenced Love to 90 days in the Cook County Jail, after finding him guilty of misdemeanor animal cruelty. Brewer gave Love credit for the 37 days he has already served.
Officers cared for the male cat until Animal Care and Control workers took it for treatment at their facility, at 2741 S. Western Ave.
Animal Care and Control Director Cherie Travis said on her Facebook page that, "Despite the terrible abuse, the cat (who the defendant called "Nightmare") is doing quite well. He is a very friendly and affectionate cat."
On Wednesday, she added that "The cat, now named Avery, was adopted … and is doing wonderfully with his new family, which includes dogs and cats." | Source: cbslocal.com - Feb 29, 2012 Update posted on Mar 1, 2012 - 3:11PM |
