Dog stabbed by intruder
Stockton, CA (US)

Incident Date: Saturday, Jan 14, 2012
County: San Joaquin

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Christopher Day

A dog is recovering after being stabbed by an intruder on Saturday morning.

Around 7:30 this morning the Stockton Police received a call from a woman reporting that a man had attempted to enter her home located at the 2300 block of Long Island Dr.

Lt. Tina Zachary with the Stockton Police Department explains that the man, identified as Christopher Day, knocked on the victim's door and attempted to make entry into the home but was not allowed. Day then went into the backyard of the home and attempted entry into the home again.

Zachary says that the victim's dog, a chihuahua, began barking at Day. It was then that Day took a knife from a BBQ in the backyard and used it to stab the dog one time in the chest.

Officers arrived to the scene and took Day into custody without incident.

The dog was taken to the emergency vet for treatment. The vet says that the dog suffered from a severe puncture wound but is expected to make a full recovery.

Day was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on charges of animal cruelty and terrorist threats.
