Alleged: Name Undisclosed
A 51-year-old Hutchinson woman could face a charge of mistreating her dog and then abandoning it outside of city limits.
A citizen came to the Hutchinson Police Department about 3:34 p.m. Nov. 10 to report having seen a woman beating and kicking a dog near the 300 block of Hassan Street Southeast.
Police spoke with the woman and later received a call from a child saying its mother had gotten mad at the dog and dumped it somewhere in the country.
In talking with the suspect again, the woman allegedly admitted to taking the dog out in the country out of frustration. She led police to the area and the dog was found sitting along the side of the road still on its leash. It came to the woman when called.
Police took the dog to the Heart of Minnesota shelter in Hutchinson. A report has been sent to City Attorney Mark Sebora requesting a complaint on a charge of mistreating animals/abandonment.
