Throwing puppy from car and then beating it Ellsworth, WI (US)Incident Date: Friday, Oct 31, 2003 County: Pierce
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: » David C. Haider » Joseph A. Anderson » Jay P. Barron
Three men are accused of throwing an acquaintance's puppy from a speeding car and then kicking it after it survived.
The black Labrador-Dalmatian puppy suffered a broken paw and abrasions. A veterinarian said it likely survived because its bones are still pliable, according to a criminal complaint filed in Pierce County.
Investigators estimate the car was traveling 80 mph.
The three northern Wisconsin men were charged with misdemeanor counts of animal mistreatment. They are David C. Haider, 18, and Joseph A. Anderson, 20, both of Bay City, and Jay P. Barron, 19, of Prescott. They were ordered to appear in court Jan. 26.
According to the complaint, the three were in Haider's vehicle Oct. 31 when Haider suggested driving really fast and tossing the puppy out a window.
The puppy was found several days later in the area and reunited with its owner.
If convicted, the three could each face up to nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine. They were charged last week. References « More cases in Pierce County, WI
