Memphis police arrested two men in North Memphis on Sunday after a report that several pit bulls were being used in a dog fight.
Officers charged Charles D. Cross, 36, and Lindell Tanner, 41, both of Memphis, with the misdemeanor of cock or animal fighting. Both men were held in Shelby County Jail on $100 bond.
A witness told police that men were urging several brown pit bulls to fight using a black and white pit bull as bait at 902 N. Second, north of Chelsea, according to a court affidavit.
Police found three pit bulls with fresh injuries at that address, according to court document. The dogs were taken to the city animal shelter.
