Failure to provide proper care to 3 dogs, one cat
Woodstock, IL (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Oct 12, 2011
County: McHenry

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Kenneth F. Renner

A McHenry County resident was arrested after an investigation by McHenry County Sheriff's Deputies found that he had mistreated his animals.

Kenneth F. Renner, 68, of 10813 McConnel Road in Woodstock was charged with two counts of cruel treatment to animals.

According to the Sheriff's Office, McHenry County Animal Control received information that a dog belonging to Renner had suffered a severe injury to one of its legs and needed veterinary care. The dog was located on Renner's farm and a medical assessment determined the dog had suffered a leg injury several days earlier and had developed numerous blood infections and was underweight.

Deputies placed Renner into custody Oct. 12 at his residence where two additional dogs and a cat were removed from his home and given medical assessments. The animals were found to be underweight and suffering from numerous medical conditions, including severe flea infestation, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Renner's bond was set at $1,500 and he was given a Nov. 8 court date.

The investigation is ongoing.
