Buffalo, NY (US)

County: Erie

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged:

» Deborah Stasiak

Two children are now in the care of their grandparents after Erie County Sheriff deputies found them living in poor conditions.

Officials say they were serving a civil order of seizure to a home on May Street in Buffalo Thursday afternoon.

Upon entering the home, deputies say they noticed feces and urine throughout the house. They also discovered little to no food in the home. The children were not home at the time deputies first arrived, but came home shortly after.

Their parents, Deborah and Darrin Stasiak, were each charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Deborah faces an additional charge of obstructing governmental administration after deputies say she became belligerent with deputies.

Child Protective Services turned the children over to their grandparents to be cared for.

Deputies also called the Erie County SPCA to remove several dogs from the home.

SPCA officials say 16 dogs total, mostly puppies, were taken out of the house. The officer on scene says most of the puppies were malnourished and one of the adult dogs had a bad skin condition.
