Defendant/Suspect: Jefri Raymond Davis
A California man who has pleaded no contest to one felony count of cruelty to animals in the wake of an incident that left a dog partially paralyzed.
Jefri Raymond Davis, allegedly shot Buddy, his neighbor's dog, in the back using a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol. Although Buddy survived, he has suffered paralysis in his hind legs, giving him little to no mobility. The dog also has needed intensive physical therapy and assistance in urinating as a result of his injuries.
Court Records indicate Buddy was near the property line but not on the defendant's property when the shooting occurred in Suisan, Calif.
Court records also indicate that the defendant shows no remorse for the incident.
The Pre-Sentence Report from the Probation Department recommends one year in jail and a $5,000 fine as part of Davis' sentence.
